This series of handouts are designed to help educators understand how a student's home culture may impact their behavior, participation, and engagement in a classroom and educational setting.
You can view the full series of handouts HERE, or you can click below on the title to read one handout at a time. Each handout is designed to share what the potential concern may be, show how that may look different in another country or culture, and share the cultural dimension that varies around the world that contributes to that behavior. On the back of each handout, the educator is provided with a bundle of questions to help learn from the actual student in their class and their educational background pertaining to that topic and a classroom activity designed to help the entire class learn more about that cultural dimension. These activities bring to light the idea that we all fall on the continuum for each cultural dimension even though some classrooms may consist of a very homogeneous group of students.
