The FLEX Global Abroad Program is a highly competitive, merit-based exchange program funded and administered by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Eligible American high school students and recent graduates can apply for a fully funded opportunity to live with a host family and attend a local high school for an academic year in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, or Thailand.
Through the FLEX Global Abroad program, students develop leadership, language, and professional skills while expanding their worldview and gaining a new, lifelong network of friends and family overseas. Students also share about the U.S. with their hosts and local communities, while building lasting relationships and strengthening ties between the U.S. and their host countries.
- The FLEX Global Abroad application for the 2027-28 academic year is open through November 30, 2026
