Many times in local communities, families don't know what they don't know. Therefore, if your school would enjoy having AFS exchange students join the student body, it can be helpful to share that idea with the parents and the general community so they know that hosting is an opportunity to engage with their local school.
HERE is a quick handout that provides some specific actions that you can take within your school to promote hosting AFS students to students, parents, and the community at-large.
If you feel having some exchange students visit classrooms or an international fair or festival would be a good way to gage the interest of your community, please contact us at educators@afsusa.org so we can connect a local volunteer to your school who can potentially be present and bring some students being hosted in a neighboring community to yours.
Additionally, if you would like to have print materials (posters, brochures, AFS swag, etc.) sent to your school to create a bulletin board or have available at an information table or in the counseling center, please reach out to AFS-USA directly at educators@afsusa.org and we can have some materials sent to you.
